Poorvi, a founding member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA)’s Bangkok District Chapter (BDC) has served on its steering group and committees several times and organized BDC’s unique Annual Conference in Chennai as Conference Chair. She currently serves on AILA’S DOS Liaison Committee and continues to be an active member of the BDC and AILA’s South Florida Chapters. She is a founding member and past Chair of the AILA Global Migration Section (GMS). Poorvi also the holds the position of Vice Chair of the India and Immigration committees at the American Bar Association (ABA) and is Conference Liaison Officer in the Immigration committee at the International Bar Association (IBA).
Poorvi has been the past President of The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce’s Western Region, The American Alumni Association (AAA), Mumbai, the Convener of the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF), Mumbai Chapter and a founding member of the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) India Chapter.
She has contributed several articles in leading publications (print and electronic) on several legal matters. She has also authored extensive chapters on U.S. consular processing for the Consular Handbook published by the ILW and AILA. She has written on a similar topic for Interpreter Releases and is also the author of the India chapter on Consular Processing, published by AILA.
